Death and Life
Death and Life. It’s what Easter is all about. Death and Life, in that order. “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4
We know that there was no resurrection from the grave without first of all, the death of Jesus on the cross. Jesus DID die on a cross. Yes, our Lord was crucified by angry men, but it was all part of the divine plan to secure our redemption. “And without shedding of blood, is no remission” of sin (Hebrews 9:22). Thank God for Calvary and the price Jesus paid there for our forgiveness. Then after Je sus’ death came His glorious resurrection and that is what we celebrate at Easter. Easter is a sacred time for Christians everywhere around the world.
Paul says we (believers) were baptized into the death that Jesus experienced (Romans 6:3). The word baptized means, immersed. In other words, when Jesus died we were immersed in His death. We identify with the death of Christ. We must believe this, accept this, and embrace this truth. Just as important is our association with His resurrection. When Jesus was raised, we too were raised, and “even so”, or because of this, “we should walk in newness of life.”
Death
and Life – Hallelujah! We, by our association with the Lord Jesus Christ, His
crucifixion and glorious resurrection, are alive in Him and one day, someday,
when we die (physically), we have the hope, the assurance, that we too will
rise again! “Ain’t no grave, gonna hold my body down”. I pray for all of you a
most blessed Easter!
